Do you miss the secret blend of the Colonel's herbs and spices? Well, then we have a surprise for you! This plant-based chicken tender recipe really is finger-licking good!

Prep time: 25 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Makes 10-12 Chicken Tenders

Ingredients: For the spice mix: Serve with:
  • ½ cup vegan mayo + 1 tsp Deliciou Smoky BBQ Bacon Seasoning, mixed
Directions:
  1. Prepare chicken according to package directions, mixing in ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp garlic powder. Mould into small, thin chicken tenders. Cover and refrigerate until step 4.
  2. Fill a small saucepan 4cm deep with oil and bring to medium-high heat.
  3. In a bowl add all the spice mix ingredients and mix well. Scoop out one third of the mix and place on a separate plate.
  4. Add the coconut milk to the mixture in the bowl and mix to make a very thick batter. Coat each tender with the batter, then roll into the dry spice mix.
  5. Immediately deep fry battered chicken pieces for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden. Transfer to paper towel before serving with dipping sauce. Enjoy!

These are the best!! The batter does come out really thick but I trusted in the process and they were just like the real thing! My kids hardly knew the difference…

Just tried Deliciou chicken for the first time tonight and wow! My daughter and I absolutely loved it. I made the KFC chicken recipe and somehow ended up with way more batter than needed. I let the chicken mixture sit for 20 minutes as it mentions on the box, then formed the shapes and refrigerated for a further 15 minutes while all the veggies were cooking. I think this may have helped them keep their shape a little bit. They fried up perfectly and as I said above, absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this product and am looking forward to making a chicken curry with the second box I purchased. Thanks Deliciou, I finally got the chance to see what KFC tastes like!!
