Beef Tacos

It’s taco time! This is our recipe for the most traditional taco - make as is or adjust with your favourite toppings! Follow our 6 easy steps for juicy seasoned Plant-Based Beef taco mince and crispy taco shells with all your old school toppings. 


Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Serves: 4


Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 8 taco shells
  • 4 large lettuce leaves, shredded
  • 2 large tomatoes, diced
  • 1 ½ cups grated vegan cheese (we use cheddar)

 

For the beef:

To serve:
  • Tomato salsa

Directions:

  1. Combine all the beef ingredients in a large bowl and mix well to create mince. 
  2. Heat oil in a large frypan over medium-high heat and add the onion and sauté until translucent. 
  3. Add the beef mixture to the pan and using a wooden spoon, break apart the mixture into bite sized pieces. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. Add the crushed tomato to the pan and cook for a further 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Meanwhile, heat taco shells according to the packet directions.
  6. To serve, divide the beef mixture between the taco shells and top with lettuce, tomato and cheese. Dollop each taco with tomato salsa and enjoy!
